In 2007 a new company, Burlington® Manufacturing Services (BMS), was formed. This new venture concentrated on selling commission and turn-key yarn package dyeing services for the home furnishings, apparel, and industrial textile market segments. The historic landmark Pioneer Plant, which had opened in 1923 as the founding operation for Burlington® Mills, serves as the headquarters and manufacturing facility for Burlington® Manufacturing Services.
In February of 2009 a decision was made to purchase the assets and business of Tietex International, LTD Interiors division. Tietex Interior’s business consisted of jacquard woven fabrics for the home furnishings and contract industries. The business & assets, located in Gibsonville, NC were purchased to strengthen the business growth and capabilities of BMS, as well as, to continue fulfilling the company’s mission of being a strong vertical source of textile products and services for customers operating within North America needing a strong and reliable domestic source.
In June 2009, the interior business was renamed as Se7en. Se7en, LLC was formed as a new company that concentrates today in the design, manufacturing, and selling of decorative fabrics woven for the home furnishings, hospitality and contract market segments. End use products for these fabrics within those segments include upholstered furniture, drapery, mattresses, bedding ensembles, panel systems, and seating for office, stadium, and religious environments.
These two operations which provides vertical integration has proven to be a successful endeavor. BMS and Se7en represent our core business operating under the new corporate name of Burlington® Technologies, Inc. The new corporation intends to remain in the textile marketplace providing proven service and quality products, but will also be seeking to diversify into other unique niche markets with innovative products.
The new name, Burlington® Technologies, also better reflects the focus of the company in attracting new technologies and products which could leverage BT’s existing facilities, equipment, a well trained and loyal non-union workforce, experienced management team, and an infrastructure of support services.
Burlington® Technologies now serves as a launch pad for new technology ventures and has been instrumental in creating such new business affiliates. The first is VitaFlex, LLC which manufactures and markets elastic nonwoven products using Dr. De-Sheng Tsai’s patented and proprietary technology in the Pioneer Plant facility. End use products utilizing this technology are being manufactured and sold for painting, insulation, powder coating, food processing, agricultural, military, sporting, healthcare, laboratory and masonry applications.
Burlington® Technologies has also recently entered a venture with Dr. Dongqing Li of Waterloo University in Canada to assist in the development, manufacturing and marketing of a unique and highly advanced Nano Lab-on-a-Chip technology utilizing hand-held diagnostic devices. This new company is called Diagnostic Chips, LLC and will serve as an IP company creating diagnostic testing technologies for medical applications such as, HIV, cancer, cell counting, & flu. This patent pending technology is also expected to provide unique testing abilities for food and fertility markets.
